Prestonsburg, Ky.–As of late we have seen a real showing of support for local artisans through festivals and night markets. As a result we are seeing small businesses across the region become impromptu venues for art exhibits. That was the case at City Perk Coffeehouse in Prestonsburg over the weekend as they held a reception for this months featured artist, Heather A. Workman, who says sometimes the most beautiful art can come from a not so beautiful place.
“ It’s mostly a release of energy because sometimes I feel like I have so much power inside of me, so many emotions, so many things that just have to come out. And this is a way to do it and beautify some of the less beautiful emotions. A lot of it focuses on issues in the area and the imagination that comes from hard times. I came here to do this, this is the gift I was given. God buries diamonds in the deepest mountains. “
