Woman charged with trafficking drugs at jail

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A Floyd County woman was taken to jail, for allegedly trying to take drugs to the jail.

Police were called to the jail last night on a report that a woman was trying to get drugs to inmates inside the Floyd County Detention Center. When officers arrived, they found the woman — Selina Lawrence, 25, of Martin — detained by a jail guard. Near where the guard had found Lawrence, officers found a syringe wrapped in several straws taped together, wrapped around a syringe, was found. She was then arrested.

Once inside the jail, Lawrence reportedly told jail guards that she another straw hidden in a body cavity. After a strip search, guards found that straw to contain an empty syringe, along with items believed to be Xanax, hydrocodone and meth, and an orange powder.

Lawrence was charged with three counts of drug trafficking, four counts of possession, and one count of promoting contraband.
