Charleston, WV — The unemployment numbers for West Virginia counties have been released. According to WorkForce West Virginia, the statewide unemployment for July was 4.7 percent which is the lowest seasonally adjusted unemployment rate since October 2008. 4 counties reported an increase, 50 counties reported a decrease and 1 county reported no change. Calhoun county reported the highest unemployment rate at 10.6 percent while Jackson county reported the lowest rate at 2.9 percent. Counties throughout the region, Logan County reported 6.0 percent down from 6.2 percent in June, McDowell County reported 9.2 percent down from 9.4 percent in June and Mingo County reported an unemployment rate of 6.8 percent which was down from 7.1 percent in June.
