WV Gov. Tax Debts

Frankfort, KY — Several coal companies that have ties to West Virginia Governor Jim Justice are making good on paying huge property tax debts to some eastern Kentucky coal producing counties. Harlan, Knott, Magoffin and Pike counties received checks last week from the Justice companies totaling nearly $1.2 million. The Justice organization also pledged to pay an equal amount over the next several months to resolve years of delinquent taxes in Kentucky. Kentucky’s Finance and Administration Cabinet let the negotiations with Justice. Justice still owes a tax bill of approximately $670,000 in Floyd County which was not part of this agreement.
