Harlan County Miners Protest Update

Harlan County miners have protested on the tracks at Sand Hill Bottom Rd in Cumberland since Monday due to not receiving their pay for work they have already done. They have blocked the tracks so no trains can leave with any coal they have mined. Supporters have shown up far and wide providing help with food, water, tents, etc. On Wednesday, the miners were gifted with equal amounts of charitable donations in white envelopes to help not just themselves, but their families. On Thursday, the mines were put up for auction including Blackjewel’s mines located in Kentucky, Virginia, Wyoming, West Virginia. So far, there has been no word on if they have been purchased. Updates will be provided as this story develops.
