BIG STONE GAP, Va. — A Wise County woman has agreed to plead guilty to a federal charge that she purchased a gun while under indictment.

Jessica Ryan Chenault, 42, of Norton, is charged with receiving a firearm while under indictment for a felony offense.

Court records accuse her of buying a rifle back in December, without disclosing that she was charged with meth possession at the time. She attempted to buy another rifle the following week, but was blocked from doing so by a background check.

Chenault has already signed a plea agreement and is scheduled to appear in court next week to formally plead guilty. She faces up to five years in prison when she is sentenced.
