Vaccinated school employees to get incentive payment

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Teachers and other school staff in the Bluegrass state are getting a little extra incentive to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Kentucky Department of Education announced today a $100 incentive payment for all full-time and part-time employees to get the shots. To be eligible for the payment, employees must be fully vaccinated by Dec. 1.

“Getting people vaccinated is one of the main ways we’re going to be able to get out of this pandemic and get back into our classrooms as usual,” said Commissioner of Education Jason E. Glass. “We hope this will encourage people to get vaccinated in order to protect their students, colleagues and themselves.”

The incentive is also available to those who have already been vaccinated.

School districts are being encouraged to match the payment, but that is not required.
