PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Last week, Robert Dwayne Baker became the first defendant to plead guilty in the Letcher County cockfighting case. Now another defendant wishes to do the same.
Brandon Honeycutt intends to plead guilty to conspiracy to engage in animal fighting. In a signed plea agreement filed on Friday, Honeycutt admitted to working as a referee at the cockfights.
He is scheduled to formally plead guilty Dec. 14 in Lexington.
Last week, Baker admitted to helping organize the cockfights by hiring Honeycutt as a referee and hiring two Georgia residents to oversee the fights. He will be sentenced Feb. 22.
The remaining four defendants in the case are scheduled to stand trial Feb. 5.
