PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Lexington man was arrested Wednesday morning after police chased him from the scene of a theft.

Police were called to Brookshire Inn just before 6 a.m. Wednesday, over a report of a man breaking into a tool truck. When an officer arrived, he spotted 40-year-old Travis Reynolds actively taking items from the truck. When the officer began to approach, Reynolds ran to his car and fled.

That prompted a chase down U.S. 23 through Coal Run, at speeds of around 100 miles an hour. The car then turned onto Cowpen Road, crashing into a ditch as it did so, but then continuing on.

The officer soon lost the car, but soon found it coming straight toward him. The officer avoided a collision and Reynolds crashed a short time later. He ran away from the scene on foot, but was soon captured.

He is now charged with theft, fleeing police, wanton endangerment and a dozen more charges.
