Ohio pair arrested after police find kilo of meth during traffic stop

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — An Ohio man and woman pulled over after police clocked them going 3 miles over the speed limit were taken to jail after police found more than 2 lbs. of meth in their SUV.

A state trooper spotted the Chevy Equinox traveling at 58 mph on U.S. 23 north of Paintsville just after noon on Tuesday. However, the officer noticed the car was speeding up and slowing down while riding its brakes.

When they reached Paintsville, the trooper pulled them over and asked the driver, Makayla Garner, 20, and passenger, Antwan Freeman, 21, both of Akron, Ohio, to step out of the car.

He then searched the vehicle and found two packages containing a kilogram of meth hidden under the gear shift.

Garner and Freeman were arrested and charged with meth trafficking. Both are being held on $10,000 cash bonds.
