PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A second person has now been charged in a case that saw a Pikeville man arrested for rape and incest back in April.
John Yelton, 37, was arrested April 16 and charged with three counts of incest, three counts of first-degree rape, three counts of first-degree sodomy and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse. Each of the charges involved two counts for victims under the age of 12 and one count for a victim over the age of 12.
But last Thursday, a Pike County grand jury returned an indictment in the case not only against Yelton, but also his wife, 34-year-old Danyell Keens.
In the indictment, the grand jury dropped the incest charges but added an additional count of each of the other charges involving a victim under the age of 12.
The rape and sodomy charges involving victims younger than 12 are the most serious, carrying potential sentences of 20-to-50 years or life in prison.
No hearings have yet been set in the case. Both Yelton and Keens are currently being held without bond in the Pike County Detention Center.
