BETSY LAYNE, Ky. — The Floyd County school district is mourning the death of an elementary school teacher.

Lea Bentley, a primary teacher at Betsy Layne Elementary, died on Thursday.

Like in many school districts today, Floyd County students are attending class remotely, due to forecasts of severe weather moving into the region. However, Floyd County Schools said in a statement Friday morning that counselors will be at the school in coming days, “to support grieving students, staff and community members.”
