BOYS SOCCER: HAWKS PICK UP WEEKEND WIN

The Pike Central Hawks battled their way to a 2-1 victory over Tug Valley this past weekend.

Junior Zaden Coleman and sophomore Austyn Blackburn found the back of the net for the Hawks, while Gabnel Zanon and Hayden Owens each chipped in with an assist.

The difference-maker, though, was goalkeeper Caden Ratliff. The sophomore kept Tug Valley at bay with 16 saves, allowing just one goal as the Hawks held on for the win.

The victory bumps Pike Central to 3-6 on the year. The Hawks will be back in action tonight at 7 p.m. on the road against Jenkins. It’s a key matchup for the Cavaliers, who are in their first season of soccer and come in at 1-1 after a 12-1 loss to Jackson City.
