
The Betsy Layne Lady Bobcats continued their strong late-season push Tuesday night, earning a 3-0 sweep over Martin County in volleyball action.
Betsy Layne took control early, winning in straight sets of 25-8, 25-17, and 25-20. Junior standout Jayden Jarrell once again led the charge with 21 kills, 4 assists, and 3 serving aces. Aubrey Williams added a solid performance with 6 kills and 2 blocks.
Jarrell now sits at 425 kills on the season, while Williams has totaled 52 blocks. Individual stats for Martin County were not available at press time.
The victory improves Betsy Layne’s record to 15-10, while Martin County drops to 5-11.
Both teams are back in action tonight — Betsy Layne will host Floyd Central at 7 p.m., and Martin County will take on Johnson Central at 6 p.m.
In other area volleyball results from Tuesday, Shelby Valley swept Pikeville 3-0, Paintsville blanked Belfry 3-0, Johnson Central topped Prestonsburg 3-1, and Lawrence County defeated Rose Hill Christian 3-0.
