
The Betsy Layne Lady Bobcats punched their ticket to the semifinals of the 15th Region Volleyball Tournament with a 3-1 win over Belfry on Tuesday night.
Betsy Layne dropped a close opening set, 26-24, before rallying to take the next three by scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-13.
Junior standout Jayden Jarrell once again led the Lady Bobcats with 23 kills and four serving aces. She now sits at an impressive 609 kills for the season.
Harlyn Slone added nine kills and four aces to the winning effort, bringing her season total to 184 kills.
Defensively, Kaylee Parsons stood tall at the net, recording two blocks to raise her season total to 46.
Individual statistics for Belfry players were not available at press time. The Lady Pirates close their season with a record of 13-13.
With the win, Betsy Layne improves to 20-16 and will face Paintsville tonight (Oct. 29) in the regional semifinals. First serve is set for 8 p.m. in Paintsville.
