VOLLEYBALL: FLOYD CENTRAL TOPS BETSY LAYNE & OTHER AREA ACTION

Floyd Central rode a strong offensive effort Wednesday night to take down Betsy Layne in a 3-1 match.

The Lady Jaguars controlled early, winning sets of 25-11 and 25-20, before Betsy Layne answered with a 25-19 third set. Floyd Central sealed the night with a hard-fought 25-22 victory in the fourth.

Caidence Lafferty powered the Floyd Central attack with 18 kills and eight serving aces, while senior Chloe Howard followed with 12 kills and one ace. Reagan Lafferty anchored the defense at the net, adding two blocks.

Team statistics for Betsy Layne were not available at press time.

The win lifts Floyd Central to 8-6 on the year, while Betsy Layne falls to 9-8.

The Lady Jaguars return home tonight to host Hazard at 6:30 p.m., while Betsy Layne travels to Martin County for a 7:30 p.m. start.

In other area volleyball action Wednesday, Hazard swept Perry Central 3-0.
