Letcher County, Ky.–It would be hard to find a more scenic view than the one that can be found on Pine Mountain Trial. The Letcher County Tourism Commission has been in the process of building 5 platforms at various overlooks to make those areas more accessible to the public. One of those unfinished platforms fell victim to vandalism over the weekend, prompting local residents and businesses to come together and offer a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
“You know they’re not even open to the public yet. This is fresh brand new stuff; we haven’t even gotten to put railing up yet. We’ve already had vandalism happen which you can see here. They put their initials, BN, and they put the date, 10-7-17, which was Saturday sometime. Then you have the initials “MJ” behind me. Graffiti is a problem all over the country and not just locally. We’re here starting this new project and we are not going to put up with it. We are going to find who done this and let them deal with the consequences.”
If you have any information regarding this incident you can contact The Letcher County Tourism Commission of Facebook.
