PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Sunday night, the Pikeville Police Department received a call of a possible hit-and-run in the Shelbiana Food City parking lot. Instead, police discovered it was a run-and-hit. Around 8:30pm Sunday, 45-year-old David Miracle, of Jonancy, called the Pikeville Police Department to report a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Miracle, who was the pedestrian, told police his girlfriend struck him with her vehicle and fled the scene. EMS transported Miracle to Pikeville Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. While he was at the hospital, officers checked security camera footage obtained from the grocery store. That’s when it was determined Miracle actually tried to make contact with her vehicle as she was pulling away. Pikeville Police Sargent Michael Riddle says falsely reporting an incident to police is very dangerous to police and innocent by-standers.
