Pike man facing meth, heroin trafficking charges

A Pike County man is facing meth and heroin trafficking charges following his arrest late last week.

James N Brown mugshotAccording to court documents, 32-year-old James Nathan Brown, of Ridge Point, Pikeville, was arrested during the course of a traffic stop in the Millard area. An arrest citation said the driver of the vehicle in which Brown was a passenger was arrested for DUI. Following a consensual search of the vehicle, the citation said, Kentucky State Police Troopers found Brown to be in possession of methamphetamine and a black substance Brown identified as heroin.

Troopers also allegedly found $455 cash on Brown’s person, and digital scales, baggies, prescription drugs and loaded syringes in the vehicle.

Brown was charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree; two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance; and other drug-related charges. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains lodged in the Pike County Detention Center, where he’s being held on a $25,000 cash bond. He’s due back in court Thursday.
