Prestonsburg, KY — Several Law Enforcement and first responder departments received automated external defibrillators (AEDs). King’s Daughters Health System and King’s Daughters Health Foundation presented 25 AEDs to the departments. Floyd County Sheriff’s Office received one which now brings the number of AEDs at that department to two. AEDs are medical devices that can deliver an electrical shock to a person suffering from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt says this allows his department to provide a great service in such an emergency. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office has two deputies that are trained EMTs.
