Charles Booker stops in Pikeville to discuss his campaign against Mitch McConnell

Charles Booker, an American politician from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, made a stop in Pikeville to discuss his stance on the new green deal and speak about his campaign in hopes of taking Mitch McConnell’s U.S. Senate seat.

“My inspiration to get into public service was really out of survival… growing up in West Louisville and seeing my family go through so much struggle… seeing a lot of adversity, really made me want to fight for better,” states Booker.

The proposed “Green New Deal” is a package of United States legislation that aims to address climate change and economic inequality. The Green New Deal combines Roosevelt’s economic approach with modern ideas such as renewable energy and resource efficiency.

Booker says, “…this is a matter of urgency and it’s bigger than beating Mitch McConnell, it’s really about how we win our future.”
