PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A former Letcher County teacher who was found guilty of a child porn charge last year has now been ordered to pay his victim restitution.

Charles Evans Hall, 49, of Jackhorn, was found guilty of producing child pornography and cyberstalking last October, following a three-day trial.

Evidence presented at trial showed that Hall groomed a female student to send him pornographic Snapchat messages. The victim also testified that Hall engaged in criminal sexual acts with her while he worked a food booth at the 2018 Mountain Heritage Festival.

He was also found guilty of trying to intimidate the girl into destroying evidence and using other people to try to get her to recant.

Hall was sentenced to more than 30 years in prison back in February, but prosecutors then asked the judge to order him to pay restitution to the girl. They produced results from a psychological exam which indicate the girl will need regular mental health treatment and medication, weekly therapy sessions and two or three inpatient admissions.

The judge agreed and ordered Hall to pay the victim $114,800.
