Frankfort, KY — County Unemployment numbers for May have been released. Unemployment rates fell in 91 counties, rose in 22 and remained the same in seven counties, that according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. Woodford County reported the lowest jobless rate at 2.8 percent while Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest jobless rate at 9.9 percent. Elsewhere in the region, Floyd and Johnson Counties reported 6.3 percent, Letcher reported 6.1 percent, Martin County reported 6.5 and Pike County reported 6.2 percent unemployment rates for May. Nationally, the comparable rate stood at 3.4 percent.
