Frankfort, KY — County unemployment figures have been released for June. Unemployment rates fell in 55 Kentucky counties in June 2019, rose in 51 and remained the same in 14 counties, that according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate at 3.4 percent while Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 12.4 percent. Elsewhere in the region, Floyd County reported 7.4 percent, Johnson County – 7.6 percent, Lawrence County – 8.1 percent, Letcher County – 7.6 percent, Martin County – 8.0 percent and Pike County reported 6.7 percent. Statewide, the unemployment rate was 4.9 percent in June and the National comparable rate was 3.8 percent.
