WARFIELD, Ky. — A traffic stop led to deputies in Martin County arresting a passenger for meth trafficking.

Deputies pulled over a car on Route 292 Saturday night and ended up taking the driver to jail for a warrant and several traffic violations.

When a passenger got out of the car, police noticed a pill bottle in his waistband and asked about it. The passenger — identified as Frankie Maynard, 46, of Pilgrim — reportedly admitted that there was meth in the bottle and asked if he could be allowed to throw it in the river.

Deputies denied that request and found 13 individual packages of meth in the bottle, along with 13 Neurontin pills.

Maynard was arrested and charged with meth trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
