An unknown number of individuals have been stealing catalytic converters from vehicles in the Minnie community of Floyd County. The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 128 was among one of the multiple thefts as the converter was stolen from their transport van. Member Kelly Slone says that as they were loading everyone up to attend a funeral, they started the vehicle and it “sounded like a tank”. Slone says the repair cost will be around $2000 dollars and it will be a huge damper on their funds since they operate on donations only. Floyd County Deputy Kevin Thacker encourages folks to invest in a surveillance system to help combat thefts. Thacker also asks community members to contact the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office if they have any information regarding this situation.
