Floyd County, Ky.–The Prestonsburg Police Department was dispatched Tuesday night to the scene of a single vehicle accident on South Lake Drive.

When officers arrived they found a gray 2005 Dodge Intrepid on the southbound shoulder with significant damage to the passenger side of the car.

“Through investigation we learned that the female operator was travelling south on south Lake Drive headed toward Lancer when she left the southbound shoulder and struck a parked vehicle. After she struck the vehicle she traveled in an offset head-on collision manner she crossed back across both north bound and south bound lanes and entered the parking lot of the Trans Star Ambulance Service where investigation indicates she came within 4-feet of striking the building before she made an abrupt right turn, crossed back across South Lake Drive and came to rest. Upon making contact through investigation we learned that she was under the influence.”

33-year old Nikki Hamilton of Betsy Layne was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving and criminal mischief and was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
