DORTON, Ky. — A fatality wreck has closed a Pike County highway.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Tuesday morning about two miles past Shelby Gap on Ky. 805. Shelby Creek Rescue Squad Chief Kim Anderson tells Mountain Top News that one of the drivers involved in the two-vehicle crash died at the scene. The identity of the deceased driver has not been released.

The other driver involved in the wreck, whose name was also not available, was taken by personal vehicle to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment on non-life threatening injuries.

As of this posting, Ky. 805 remains closed. Kentucky State Police is conducting accident reconstruction at the scene. The Dorton Volunteer Fire Department and Pike County Emergency Management also responded to the scene.
