Fire in Williamson destroys apartment, garage

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — The Williamson Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire early Monday morning.

It happened around 5 o’clock at an apartment building on Logan Street.

Williamson Fire Chief Joey Carey tells EKB News it was an unoccupied at the time of the fire. According to Carey, the owner of the building was having the apartment renovated.

No foul play is suspected and the cause of the fire is undetermined.

The first floor apartment, garage and a car were a total loss. The fire was confined to the one area and fire crews were able to save surrounding structures.

The Chattaroy Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene. The fire remains under investigation.
