Former Conn Judge Dies

Lexington, KY — The former administrative law judge who was serving a four-year sentence for taking bribes from former Social Security lawyer Eric C. Conn in a $600 million social security fraud case has died. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, 83-year-old David Black Daugherty died at a Lexington-area hospital Saturday. Daugherty pleaded guilty in 2017 to taking more than $600,000 in bribes in cases that involved Conn’s clients. Conn represented thousands in eastern Kentucky in Social Security cases, and Daugherty heard their appeals in Huntington, West Virginia. Daugherty’s projected release date was February 14, 2020 according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
