A former employee of the Pike County Master Commissioner’s Office was sentenced Thursday for stealing money from the office.

47-year-old Linda Chaney, of Georgetown, was sentenced to three years in prison for stealing more than $126,000, and forging checks from the master commissioner’s office. The case was prompted by an investigation by the state Attorney General’s office that revealed the missing funds.

Chaney, also known as Linda Anderson, was sentenced to two years in prison on a theft charge, and one year on a forgery charge. The sentences will run consecutively for a total of three years in prison.

Chaney was taken into the custody of the Pike County Detention Center upon sentencing.
