Four arrested after fight at Warfield Elementary

WARFIELD, Ky. — Four people were arrested and an elementary school was placed on a “soft lockdown” Monday, following a fight among adults outside of the school.

It happened outside of Warfield Elementary, in Martin County, where the Martin County School Police Department was called to a report of a fight in the parking lot.

Gage Reed, 25, of Debord, and Ronald Reed, 29, of Sitka, told police told police that the incident began with an altercation with 21-year-old Caleb Costa, of Warfield, at McDonald’s in Inez. The Reeds said they followed Costa home in order to find out his address so they could press charges.

They said they then started to turn around in the school parking lot, but Caleb Costa and his father, Tony Costa, 48, of Warfield, confronted them on school property.

The police report says school security video confirmed that the Costas advanced on the Reeds, but also notes the Reeds could have left but chose to get out of their car instead.

All four men were arrested on charges of second-degree disorderly conduct. Sunday Costa, 45, of Warfield, was also charged with the same crime but not arrested.

Second-degree disorderly conduct is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to 90 days in jail.

Warfield Elementary put out a statement that said the school was placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution and the incident did not pose a threat to students or staff.
