PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Georgia man arrested last year for trafficking meth and heroin in Eastern Kentucky has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Dennis Arnold “Dino” Lyons, 35, of Rex, Ga., pleaded guilty in April to possession of meth and heroin with the intent to distribute and using a gun in a drug trafficking crime.
In his plea agreement, he admitted that he would regularly travel from Georgia to sell meth and heroin in places like Knott and Powell counties. On three occasions in November, he sold more than 100 grams to an undercover informant, as well as 2 grams of heroin on one of those occasions.
In December, he was pulled over in Perry County, at which time police found more than 4 lbs. of meth and nearly half a pound of heroin hidden in a spare tire, as well as two loaded guns in the center console.
Last week, Lyons was sentenced to 10 years for the drug charge and an additional five years for the gun charge.
He is currently being held in the Pike County Detention Center, awaiting transfer to the federal prison system.
