BLAINE, Ky. — Deputies attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a Lawrence County man ended up taking his girlfriend to jail too on charges of hindering prosecution and assaulting an officer.

The officers went to a home on Route 201 to serve a warrant on Christopher Eric Sons, 45, for a September indictment on charges of fleeing police and wanton endangerment.

They were met by his girlfriend, Callee West, 46, who told police he wasn’t there. The police report says she further told them they had broken up and he had been gone for a while.

Police search the home anyway and arrested Sons when he was found hiding in a clothing rack in the basement.

West was also arrested on a charge of hindering prosecution and placed in a police car. When a deputy went to speak with her a few minutes later, she allegedly forced her way out of the police car. After she was told to get back in the car, the police report says she refused and kicked the deputy in the chest.

West was ultimately forced back into the car and picked up another charge for assaulting a police officer.

Both are being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
