Groundbreaking held for new Belfry fire department

belfry2HARDY, Ky. — A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Belfry Volunteer Fire Department station number 3 today. The new facility will be located at the Hardy Ball Park on the right side of the pool. Officials say the station has been in the works for several years and it’s exciting to see it come to fruition. Keeping the new fire station under the Belfry Volunteer Fire Department’s umbrella allows it to lower home owner’s insurance premiums for those in the Hardy community. Over 250 homes and five businesses will benefit from the new station.

The building is expected to be completed by early next spring. Belfry Fire Chief Nee Jackson says the fire department has already purchased a truck to be located at station number 3. The department plans to have it ready so when the new station opens, it will be fully equipped and ready to operate without having to take away from the other stations.
