Hatfield and McCoy Marathon to be featured in Runner’s World

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — The Tug Valley Road Runners Club and other volunteers are gearing up for the 19th Annual Hatfield and McCoy Marathon.

The marathon begins in South Williamson, Kentucky, travels through Matewan, West Virginia and finishes in Williamson. The race sees almost 1,000 runners a year with at least one person from every state in attendance.

This year’s race will be featured in ‘Runner’s World’ magazine. Reporter A.C. Shilton and crew members will be staying at the Williamson Fire Department and running in the race.

The race will be featured in the October edition of ‘Runner’s World’ magazine. Organizers are very excited to be featured.

“I got an email a couple of days ago from the Bible of running, I call it, ‘Runner’s World’ magazine,” said race director Alexis Batausa. “They want to a feature story on the race, especially the economic impact of how it does, not just in Williamson, but really our region here and our small community. We’re just excited for them to come and we can’t wait for the world to see more about our community and our race.”

The race is Saturday, June 9th. Participants have the option to run a full marathon, half marathon, double half marathon or 5k.
