HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Pirates fall to Lions; Bobcats top Hornets

Belfry came up on the short end of a 60-56 outcome to Boyd County in a game played at Belfry Gymnasium on Saturday night.

The Pirates, now 4-1, had tied the game at 55-all with less than two minutes to play on Sal Dean’s trey. Dean finished with 11 points, along with Bol Kuir who added 13 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Zach Savage added 10.

Betsy Layne’s Jordan Frazier poured in a game-high 31 points to lead the Bobcats to an 81-67 victory over Phelps in a game played at the McCoy Athletic Center on Saturday night.

Chase Mims added 18 points and 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Brady Robinson finished with 18as the Bobcats moved to 2-3.

Jaeshon Nugent paced the Hornets (0-5) with 33 points while Keandre Galaurb-Jackson tallied 19. Dominick Francis added 15.

Belfry built a big halftime lead against Phelps and cruised to a 76-52 win in a 60th District matchup played at the McCoy Athletic Center on Friday night.

Sal Dean led a balanced scoring attack with a game-high 24 points as Belfry improved to 4-0. Tyler Chaffin followed with 16 while Bol Kuir and Ben McNamee added 12 apiece.

Jaeshon Jackson paced the Hornets, now 0-4, with 18 points and Dominick Francis net 12.
