The big dog is still the big dog in Class 3A district play.

Belfry, which started the season 0-5, won its third straight district game, dominating Lawrence County, 42-13, in a game played at Haywood Stadium on Friday night.

The victory puts the Pirates in the driver’s seat heading into this week’s road game at Pike County Central.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 6-2 and was the team’s first loss to an actual opponent this season.

Running back Isaac Dixon ran 20 times for 186 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Dre Young added 57 yards and two scores.

Lawrence County running back Dylan Ferguson ran for both Bulldog touchdowns in the first half.

Quarterback Alex Strickland finished with 136yards passing.
