The Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) pushed back the start of the post-season playoffs until Nov. 19.
KHSAA officials are scheduled to meet prior to the kickoff of post-season play to discuss winter sports, but also reportedly to evaluate how to move forward with games.
There’s talk of taking the top two teams from each district, which would eliminate a round of games, or have the top 16 teams in the RPI make up the post-season field.
The top two district teams in Class 4A would be Johnson Central and Letcher Central, thus meaning Harlan County and Perry Central would be out.
Belfry and Lawrence County would be the top two schools in Class 3A, eliminating Pike Central and Magoffin County.
Shelby Valley would qualify in Class 2A, finishing second to West Carter. Prestonsburg and Martin County would be out.
Pikeville and Paintsville would both qualify in Class 1A. Betsy Layne would be eliminated.
