HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Pikeville nips Paintsville; Belfry boots Hazard

Pikeville’s Trey Hancock scored a pair of goals and Bryson Collins was solid between the pipes as the Panthers edged Paintsville, 2-1, in a match played at Bob Amos Soccer Complex on Saturday morning.

Aaron Chang added an assist as Pikeville which moved to 2-4-0.

Paintsville’s lone goal was scored by Owen Trador. It was unassisted as the Tigers dropped to 1-5-0.

Belfry goalkeeper Makaden Maynard was outstanding as the Pirates shut out Hazard, 5-0, in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Saturday.

Tyler Slone had two goals and one assist as the Pirates improved to 2-1-0. Jasper McCoy added two goals and Isaac Elia scored one.

Belfry took 36 shots on goal while the Bulldogs were limited to just four.

Belfry’s Myra Blevins scored four goals to power the Lady Pirates to a 10-0 mercy-rule win over Hazard in a match played at Massey Energy Soccer Complex on Saturday.

Kinzie Jackson added a pair, while Zoet Caudill, Roxy Cline, Alyssa Akers and Haleigh Fletcher added one apiece.

Goalkeeper Jazzy Cline recorded the shutout as the Lady Pirates moved to 2-3-0.

Martin County goalkeeper Marlie Fletcher recorded a shutout as the Lady Cardinals blanked Ashland Blazer, 3-0, in a match played at The Rock on Saturday.

Sophia McCoy scored one goal and assisted on one other as the Lady Cardinals moved to 3-3-0. Trinity Preece and Kaitlyn Gauze added one goal each.

Ashdon Kerr and Lauren Hale had one assist each.

Paintsville snapped a four-match losing streak with an 8-0 win over Perry Central in a home match played on Saturday.

Camryn Helton scored five goals and assisted on two others as the Lady Tigers improved to 3-4-0.

Leandra Curnutte had one goal and two assists while Ava Hyden scored one goal and added an assist. Chloe Fleming rounded out the scoring. Kali Mulcahy had an assist.

Goalkeeper Chelsea Reynolds recorded the shutout.
