Jones declares state of emergency after flash flooding

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Pike County Judge-Executive Ray Jones has declared a state of emergency Monday, after flash flooding took a toll on the county’s infrastructure earlier in the day.

The remnants of Hurricane Ida moved through the county, dumping heavy rain and overwhelming creeks and drainage systems. As a result, Jones said in his order that the county had sustained “damage to roads, bridges and culverts in addition to homes and other private properties.”

The order allows the county to implement its emergency operations plan directs all county agencies to cooperate with Pike County Emergency Management to respond to the emergency.
