HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: Betsy Layne, Paintsville stay unbeaten

Betsy Layne scored a straight set win for the third time this season, beating Prestonsburg, 3-0, in a match played at Junior Newsome Arena on Tuesday night.

Akira finished with seven kills and 12 blocks in the 25-19, 25-16, and 25-12 win. Madison Hamilton followed with four kills, 12 blocks, five digs and three serving aces.

Emily Johnson collected nine kills and 26 digs while Madi Meade had 47 digs. Lindsey Watkins added 28 assists, eight digs and three aces.

Paintsville took control early on against Pike County Central and rolled to a 3-0 ictory in a match played at the Hawks Nest on Tuesday night.

Blair Ratliff had six kills and four blocks in the 25-13, 25-11, and 25-16 win. Kynzi Slone finished with 15 assists while Kara Ward had eight aces.

Mattie Ratliff totaled nine digs, and Hailey Little added eight kills and five digs.

Pikeville rallied from a 2-1 deficit to beat Floyd Central, 3-2, in a match played on the road Tuesday night.

Emma Bailey had 20 kills and four blocks for the Lady Jaguars in the 26-24, 25-27, 25-20, 23-25, and 15-9 loss.

Jadyn Hall totaled 13 kills and 21 digs while Amelia Wallace had five kills, 39 assists and 13 digs.
