Holiday season fire safety

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  The Christmas season is one of the most festive times of the year.  But, it can also be the most dangerous.  According to the U.S. Fire Administration, residential fires this time of year are more frequent, more costly and more deadly than at any other time of the year. But, local fire officials say most of those fires can be prevented.  Pikeville Fire Department Battalion Chief Mitch Case explained that the three days of the year when the most residential fires are reported are Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.  He also reminds us of these safety tips to remember through the holiday season.
