PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A trial date has been set for the former city attorney for Elkhorn City, on charges of bank fraud and making false statements on his taxes.

Timothy Belcher, 55, is accused of using money intended for the children of a man killed in a car crash. More than $817,000 was placed in escrow for the children in 2007, but by 2018, it had dwindled to less than $400.

On Tuesday, a judge ordered Belcher’s trial to begin on July 26th.

It is expected to last for five days.

Belcher was also charged with theft in Pike Circuit Court back in 2019. That case remains pending.

His law license was suspended in September of 2019.

Belcher has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
