Kentuckians can report storm-related price gouging

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The round after round of severe storms moving through the state this year have been bad enough, but it’s even worse when someone tries to take advantage of an emergency to make a bigger profit.

That’s why Attorney General Daniel Cameron is reminding Kentuckians that they can report such behavior.

Whenever the governor issues a state of emergency related to the weather, it is illegal to drastically raise the price of necessities.

Anyone can report instances of price gouging by calling the Attorney General’s Disaster Fraud Hotline at (502) 696-5485. You can also file a complaint online at ag.ky.gov/pricegouging.

Items covered under the price gouging law include common foods, gasoline, emergency and medical supplies, cleanup services and supplies, heating oil and other items and services.
