Kentucky Releases County Unemployment Figures for February

Frankfort, KY — Unemployment rates fell in 108 Kentucky counties between February 2018 and February 2019, rose in 7 and remained the same in 5 counties, that according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 3 percent. Magoffin County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 13.3 percent which was lower than the 14.3 percent recorded in January 2019. Elsewhere in the Big Sandy region, Floyd County reported 6.4 percent down from 6.8 percent in January, Johnson County reported 6.9 percent down from 7.4 percent in January, Martin County reported 6.6 percent down from 6.8 percent in January and Pike County reported 5.6 percent unemployment rate in February down from 6.0 percent in January of this year. Statewide, the unemployment rate stands at 4.3 percent for February which is down from 4.5 percent recorded in January and Nationally the unemployment rate for February stood at 4.1 percent.
