Pikeville, KY — A Knott County man has been arrested in Pikeville for assault. According to the arrest citation, Pikeville Police responded to Myers Towers Monday night after 50-year-old Gene David Adkins of Hindman allegedly forced his way into an apartment. Police had previously been looking for Adkins after being notified he was walking through town, staggering and consuming alcohol. Adkins made his way to a 9th floor apartment at Myers Tower and forced his way into the apartment. The woman who lives in the apartment told officers she did not know Adkins and that he grabbed her by the arm, twisted it and scratched her on her face as he made entry into her apartment. Adkins was arrested while still inside the apartment and charged with public intoxication, criminal trespass and 4th degree assault and lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
