Man Scuffles With Police, Facing Numerous Charges

Pike County, KY — An Elkhorn City man is facing several charges after he allegedly threaten to kill his fiancé and scuffled with law enforcement. According to an arrest citation, Kentucky State Police Troopers responded to a call at Abner Fork in Pike County Tuesday morning after a woman called stating her fiancé had a gun and the phone disconnected. Troopers arrived to find 27-year-old Shawn Swiney being irate and spitting at them. Swiney refused Troopers commands and jerked away from them. Troopers scuffled with Swiney on the ground before getting handcuffs on him. Troopers say that Swiney refused to walk to a patrol car and was assisted. Once inside the patrol car, Swiney began to kick the windows. Swiney was taken to Pikeville Medical Center to be checked out for knee pain and once medically cleared was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center. Swiney was charged with 4th degree assault, menacing, 3rd degree assault on a police officer, public intoxication, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.
