PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A Knott County man with a lengthy criminal history has been charged with murder, after the body of a Floyd County man who went missing Dec. 30 was found in Johnson County last week.

James Pratt, 52, of Pine Top, was charged with murder and abuse of a corpse on Sunday. He is accused of killing Paul Setser, 46, of Auxier.

No details about the alleged crime have been made public, but the sheriff’s office says the charge is the result of a lengthy investigation by deputies, state police troopers and detectives, and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, that began shortly after Setser’s disappearance.

Pratt is currently being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail, in Hazard. He also currently faces drug trafficking and other charges after being indicted in Floyd County last month.
