Frankfort, KY — Kentucky has released county unemployment numbers for October. Unemployment rates fell in 85 counties, rose in 24 and remained the same in 11 counties, that according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, and agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. Fayette and Oldham counties recorded the lowest jobless rates in the Commonwealth at 2.8 percent. Magoffin county recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 10.9 percent. Throughout the region, Floyd county reported 5.9 percent unemployment which was unchanged from September. Johnson county reported 5.7 percent down from 5.9 percent, Lawrence county reported 6.0 percent down from 6.7 percent, Letcher reported 7.6 percent down from 8.0 percent, Martin county reported 6.2 percent down from 6.5 percent and Pike county reported an increase of 5.4 percent up from 5.0 percent in September. The statewide unemployment rate dropped in October to 3.7 percent down from 3.8 percent reported in September.
